Appalachian Film Festival |
The documentary CROSSINGS - Bridge Building in West
Virginia© has been selected out of over 60 entries as
a Finalist in the seven-state, regional Appalachian Film Festival.
The documentary shows the formidable terrain our forefathers faced
and how they overcame these transportation barriers with innovative,
award-winning structures.
Screenings for the 3rd annual Appalachian Film Festival
will take place at Huntington’s Cinema Theater at 1021 4th
Avenue. CROSSINGS will be shown at 4:15 pm on Friday, April
28, 2006.
Production time was 18 months from contract award to completion.
The filming sessions included four separate reenactment scenes,
seven interviews, two helicopter flights, one boat ride, two
catwalks and nearly 6,500 miles of driving to film 38 bridges.
CROSSINGS was funded through a Federal Highway Administration
Transportation TEA-21 Enhancement grant and was completed for under
the grant budget of $100,000.
CROSSINGS has aired on West Virginia Public Broadcasting and
will be distributed to all state schools and libraries.
Digital Vision Works, a production company from Dunbar, WV, filmed
the one-hour documentary.
