CROSSINGS - Bridge Building in West Virginia

Documentary Showcasing West Virginia’s Bridges Finalist in
Appalachian Film Festival

The documentary CROSSINGS - Bridge Building in West Virginia© has been selected out of over 60 entries as a Finalist in the seven-state, regional Appalachian Film Festival.   The documentary shows the formidable terrain our forefathers faced and how they overcame these transportation barriers with innovative, award-winning structures.

Screenings for the 3rd annual Appalachian Film Festival will take place at Huntington’s Cinema Theater at 1021 4th Avenue.  CROSSINGS will be shown at 4:15 pm on Friday, April 28, 2006.

Production time was 18 months from contract award to completion.  The filming sessions included four separate reenactment scenes, seven interviews, two helicopter flights, one boat ride, two catwalks and nearly 6,500 miles of driving to film 38 bridges.  CROSSINGS was funded through a Federal Highway Administration Transportation TEA-21 Enhancement grant and was completed for under the grant budget of $100,000.

CROSSINGS has aired on West Virginia Public Broadcasting and will be distributed to all state schools and  libraries.

Digital Vision Works, a production company from Dunbar, WV, filmed the one-hour documentary.
