Content Naming Conventions

What goes in what file? To have uniformity throughout the WVDOT
Engineering Division, the following format will be used:
- rdy_bas_filename.dgn = Base topo
map
- Generated through Survey Reduction.
This file contains the data collected during the survey and it not
to be altered!
- rdy_mbm_filename.dgn = Modified
Base Map
- (original topo features)
- A copy of the base map that is
modified for easier understanding; pipe widths are shown and spot
elevations are turned off.
- rdy_des_filename.dgn = Proposed
Alignment & Design Features
- This file will contain the
horizontal alignment and corresponding proposed road features.
- rdy_sur _filename.dgn = Surface
Contours
- (created in INROADS)
- The DTM surface contours are
displayed in this file.
- rdy_txt_filename.dgn = Existing
Text File
- This file will contain only test
associated with the 'mbm' file.
- rdy_pro_filename.dgn = Profile
- Profiles are generated from INROADS
set up for referencing to plot file.
- rdy_tit_filename.dgn =
Construction Title Sheet
- Title sheet is placed and layout
referenced located and copied at an appropriate scale, etc.
- rdy_geo_filename.dgn = Geometric
Layout
- The geometric layout made with
appropriate notation and so on; may contain reference points and
bench marks if there is adequate room.
- rdy_ref_filename.dgn = Reference
Points & Bench Marks
- Reference points and bench marks
with border.
- rdy_pav_filename.dgn = Pavement
I/S Details
- (Show pavement elevation every 10
feet).
- Reference points and bench marks
with border.
- rdy_dtl_filename###.dgn = Special
Details
- Special details with border sheet.
- rdy_gns_filename.dgn = General
Note Sheet
- A border sheet is placed and notes
specific to the project are included.
- rdy_typ_filename.dgn = Typical
Section
- Typical sections and appropriate
details with border are shown.
- rdy_qnt_filename.dgn = Estimate
of Quantities
- This file should contain the summary
of quantities sheet and quantity table sheets. ASCII files can be
generated and dumped into the file.

Superelevation Diagrams & Tables
- This file will contain generated
super tables and diagrams.
- rdy_xsc_filename.dgn = Cross
Section
- Cross sections are displayed in this
file.
- rdy_pln_filename###.dgn = Plan
Sheets
- This file only contains the borders
and match marks, with the rdy_des_filename.dgn file,
rdy_mbm_filename.dgn file, rdy_sur_filename.dgn file, and other
files referenced.
- rdy_pro_filename###.dgn = Profile
Sheets
- Has the profile sheet border and
references the rdy_pro_filename.dgn file.
- rdy_xsc _filename###.dgn = Cross
Section Sheets
- Has the cross section sheet border
and references the rdy_xsc_filename.dgn file
