Archaeology

As part of the Division of Highway’s Environmental Services Section, the Archaeology Unit performs reconnaissance surveys for WVDOH bridge replacement and small highway projects; and coordinates with consultants, state and Federal agencies, and other DOH offices on major transportation projects at various stages of development.

Our past projects include the Reed Farmstead site, an investigation of an antebellum Hardy County farmstead, and East Steubenville, a Panhandle Archaic site in Brooke County.
