West Virginia Oversize-Overweight Truck Permits Go Online

CHARLESTON – Highways Commissioner Paul Mattox announced today the opening of a new online service for motor carriers needing special hauling permits to travel through the state. Working with C. W. Beilfuss & Assoc., Inc., a nationwide vendor of state government automation with over 15 years of experience in automating state oversize – overweight permitting agencies, this new service is expected to save the trucking industry significant time and money by making travel documents and permits available on-line, around the clock and with out processing delays. “Implementing efficiencies in our permitting process can only help businesses remain successful,” Commissioner Mattox stated. “This service by C.W. Beilfuss and Associates accomplishes that.”
The on-line service will include a convenience fee of $10-$15, depending on the permit type but the current West Virginia office will continue to issue permits without the added fees.
For more information please contact Wayne Kessinger (304) 558-9483 or go to www.gotpermits.com.

This service has been made available by providing users access to a version of the computer analysis program very similar to the one used by our personnel here in the Central Permit Office. Users enter their truck and route information and run the analysis. If the load passes on the program, the user may print out the permit and go. If it does not pass, the application is forwarded here for further processing. The obvious advantage to the trucking industry is that permits for most moderately oversize and/or overweight loads – and many superloads - traveling major routes in West Virginia may be issued without delay. Also, www.gotpermits.com does accept payment by major credit cards, whereas the State of West Virginia cannot directly accept credit card payment.

General Information

The Central Permits Section issues all types of Hauling permits to move everything from mobile homes to giant superloads. You can order your permits over the internet. All you need is a state account. If you already have a state account, just call the Permits Section at the number listed below and get them to give you a logon account and a password. If you do not have a state account and would like to get one, call our Finance Division for the requirements at (304) 558-3122, or download the required forms by clicking on the link below.

Business Information Sheet
You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to open.

Return the completed business information sheet to the following address:
WV Division of Highways
Finance Division
Building 5, Room A-220
1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East
Charleston, WV 25305-0430

After you get your state account, you will need to contact the Permits Section at the number below to obtain your logon account and your password. Once all this is done, just click on the link below, logon, and enter your trip requests on-line.
There are many advantages to entering your requests on-line. After you have submitted your request, our system will assign you a trip request number you can use to track the progress of your requests through the issuing process. Since the information regarding your trip is already entered into our system, the permitters do not have to key in all the data, risking typographical errors, and expediting the issuing process. This saves you time and costs less than faxing applications long distance and calling the permitters regarding the progress of your permits.
