The TRAC Program The AASHTO TRAC Program is a national education program whose primary mission is to interest junior high and high school students in civil engineering careers in the transportation industry. The program was designed by educators and engineers and tested by students. It supports the teaching of important concepts in science and mathematics through engineering activities. The program utilizes a computer and mini-lab of electronic equipment (the TRAC PAC) in the classroom. A unique concept of the program is that practicing engineers serve as professional resources to secondary schools. The program is sponsored by West Virginia Department of Transportation and coordinated with West Virginia University College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, West Virginia Department of Education and West Virginia Office of School-to-Work. The Human Resources Division of the WVDOT serves as the West Virginia Regional Center for the AASHTO TRAC Program. The West Virginia TRAC Regional Center is looking for schools that are interested in this truly exciting hands-on educational program and civil engineers to volunteer their time to adopt a school.
